A Social Media Manager Frees up your Time
I have just discussed this subject whilst I was in Ottawa. The topic is in no way city, province or even country specific.
Ask yourself, “can I manage my social media campaign myself?”. Or perhaps, ask yourself, “How am I doing at managing my social media campaign?”. You may be very capable at managing your social media tasks. You may be doing a great job. Most likely not though; unfortunately.
Fortunately for you there is a solution. Outsourcing! No matter what type of business in which you are engaged, there are many moving parts that demand a certain level to achieve success. Knowledge can be obtained at a cost of time and money; typically. However, it should be clear that you just can’t do everything yourself and your time is better spent managing your business. Let someone else, take care of the in-depth accounting; legal, web design, search engine optimization, and social media management work to give a few examples of outsourcing areas. If you had all the time and money in the world and the interest, you could learn and become proficient at all the business tasks that need to be executed on regular basis.
Now, let’s assume you already know the benefits of social marketing and have taken steps to start marketing in the social media space. You have set up your social media accounts; that took a little bit of time but nothing extraordinary. Now comes the fun. You want/need to get your company brand out in the faces of your potential customers to let them know who you are, what you do, and where to find you to obtain your product/service. Easier said than done!
You will need to post and/or tweet regularly. A few times a day; text and pictures. Your posts and tweets must be one or more of the following: engaging, thought-provoking, interesting, noteworthy, inspiring, uplifting, funny and more. Try creating new content that fits that bill on a daily basis. That takes time! Time to research, craft and edit. And, it’s not a “one size fits all” scenario. What you post on Facebook cannot be directly copied over to a post on LinkedIn. Two vastly different groups of people. Again, this takes much time. If you’re spending your time doing the job of an Ottawa social media manager you are not doing some other important business, family, personal or relationship task. Can you afford the consequence of that sacrifice? You have to decide what that is worth to you.
Benefits of Outsourcing to a Social Media Management Company
If at this point you don’t see that the biggest benefit to you is the ability to have multiple important tasks occurring in parallel instead of sequentially or not at all, and you’re still asking “why should I outsource?”, then stop reading. You are obviously have everything under control and are not in need of outsourcing help.
Otherwise, if you are still reading and wish to know more about the benefits then here we go:
- Time, as I said, your social media tasks could be executed at the same time you are doing other important business management tasks;
- There are experts that know how to communicate (hashtag use, microblogging) on the different platforms so you don’t have to take the time to learn or keep up with trends;
- You don’t have to take the time to research, draft, review, finalize and post on a daily basis;
- Your posts and tweets will be scheduled and posted even when you’re on vacation, sick or in meetings; and
- Your posts and tweets will capture the attention of your followers and potential followers. The experts know how to do this. You probably don’t.
Don’t give up complete control
Now, although I am a proponent of outsourcing your social media marketing work, I am one to give up total control. In my opinion, you should work with a company that gives you control over what’s posted and tweeted. You should be able to review the posts and tweets prior to them going out and have the option of editing or deleting which ever you want. You should also have the ability to insert your own posts and tweets whenever you wish. For example, perhaps you decide to have a sale and you want to alert all your followers immediately, then you should be able to take control and post information about your sale. Lastly, your outsourcer should provide stats that you can monitor to gauge effectiveness.
Lessen your load and let someone else do the heavy social media coordination lifting for you. The ROI will be well worth it. And, once you free up your time, you can focus on another important aspect of your online business; search engine marketing. This is also beneficial! Good Luck!
